Story:

After Conall had inquired with Prof. Sycamore about whatever he could offer on Mewtwo, he had spent any leisurely time looking around in his books and reports for any useful information on the subject. One good day he came across a report of Genetic Impact of Advanced Intervention on the Evolutionary Species. The paper was published by Dr. Fuji, whom at this point Sycamore knew was involved in Mewtwo's creation, however in this  particular paper, Fuji had worked along side one of Sycamore's acquaintances... Mr. Gurkinn. Sycamore hoped Gurkinn could have a bit more information on Mewtwo and his whereabouts. So he contacted Conall to give him the news and direct him to the Tower of Mastery in Shalour City where Mr. Gurkinn would be waiting for him.

And so, Conall set off to Shalour City with Ronan. The trip through the Reflection Cave was uneventful and soon enough they arrived to their destination. After checking in at the Pokemon Center, they departed to the Tower of Mastery. As expected, they were received by Mr. Gurkinn who introduced himself as the "Mega Evolution Guru". The rest of the introductions were made and they removed themselves from public view. They began their conversation in a confined office inside the center pillar. Mr. Gurkinn told them how, about three decades ago he was approached by Dr. Fuji, who wished to discuss the subject of evolution in pokemons and how their genetics are involved in the results. They met a few other times to exchange notes but the rest of their partnership on the studies was done by mail. Thanks to their combined research, Gurkinn was able to advance exponentially in his studies of evolution and discover what he needed to know in order to harness the power of Mega Evolution. Fuji on the other hand was not so open with his personal projects, but he did mentioned every now and then about its potential in the field of biology. Unfortunately, Fuji did not gave any hint of Mewtwo's creation in those days, so Gurkinn had no more information to help. However, he did offer help in a different way. He opened a wooden case he had on the table, displaying two multicolored jewels.

Gurkinn urged each of them to take one of the Key Stones and explained them how they resonate with Mega Stones and the pokemons' feelings in order to Mega Evolve. As they exited the office Conall felt a slight twinge in his head. The pain built steadily in waves as he tried to get to the main door. Halfway there the pain proved to much for him as he fell to his knees. He grabbed his head fearing the pain would split it open. Suddenly, Conall's eyes started glowing along with the Key Stone clutched in a death grip in his hand. The whole structure of the building started shaking all at once. Ronan tried to go on Conall's aid but was repelled by the bright force surrounding him now. Conall's body lifted a few feet above the ground as it levitated. Ares, who waited patiently outside, barged in seeking his master as Atlas broke free of his pokeball, sensing Conall's distress.

In all the commotion, Ronan thought of the Key Stone still in Conall's hand and how it seemed to have triggered the whole situation, so he looked for Gurkinn in search of answers. As he turned he saw the Guru held against his will by a Bisharp holding a blade to his neck, leading him away towards the Tower's catacombs.
The whole building was still shaking and the psychic pulses coming off from Conall were now cracking the stonewalls. Ares half growled-half whined, unsure on how to help his master as Atlas provided protection from the psychic blasts. Ronan found himself with little time to think. In his distress he called out Eliza, and her soothing demeanor helped to clear his mind. His feelings and concern resonated with hers. A flow of emotions entwined as the key stone in Ronan's pocket glowed along with the stone crafted on Eliza's barrette. Amidst all the chaos, the gardevoir was enveloped in light and Mega evolved in front of her master. Watching her, regal and powerful, Ronan decided to send her and Ares to retrieve the Guru while he and Atlas assessed the situation and helped as they could. Swiftly Ares picked up Eliza and ran downstairs into the catacombs. With his heart racing, Ares hurried into the tunnel. A few torches lit the way and the smell of the human and his captor left an invisible trail for him to follow. As he followed the trace with the gardevoir on his back, he noticed a third scent, very faint and definitely human. It was a particular mixture of salt, wood, liquor...and blood.
